QUESTIONS ABOUT CORNEAL MOLDING
How does Corneal Molding correct your vision?
When you sleep, you wear special contact lenses that gently reshape the surface of your eyes, so you can see clearly after removing the lenses
How long will my vision stay clear?
Your vision will stay clear for the next 24 to 72 hours, allowing you freedom to perform any activity without regard to any eye correction.
Is Corneal Molding very expensive?
Corneal molds can be safely worn for
many years, thereby making CM more cost effective than wearing soft contacts.
But-, are they safe?
Yes these contact lenses are very safe and here are the facts:
• Corneal reshaping was approved by the FDA in June of 2002. Paragon Vision Systems Research found that 93.3% of patients ended up with 20/30 vision which is good enough to drive without glasses.
• Several studies: (Stone,1976; Perrigin,et.a1.,1990; and Khoo, et.,al., 1999) have shown gas - permeable lenses on average SLOWED THE PROGRESSION OF MYOPIA IN CHILDREN BY APPROXIMATELY 50%*
• In a pilot study, the lenses for overnight Orthokeratology (LOOK) in 1999 demonstrated excellent clinical efficacy to corneal molding with 74% of subjects achieving 20/20 in the morning. |

What is Corneal Molding ?
Corneal Molding is a non-surgical process which reshapes the cornea of the eye utilizing special contact lenses, known as, Corneal Molds (retainers) thereby reducing the dependence upon corrective eyewear.
Reshaping the cornea with contact lenses to improve vision isn't new. It's called Orthokeratology (Ortho-K), and it has been practiced for decades.
Most patients achieve clear unaided vision the first day after overnight wear, but patients with higher prescriptions may need temporary soft lenses for a few days until full clarity is reached.
Once the optimal visual changes have been achieved, then retainer lenses must be worn at night while sleeping to maintain stable vision. |

WCM is generally safe and well tolerated, and is especially great for kids. WCM has even been shown to slow down myopic progression in children! |
|
A Scout topographer takes "14000" data point maps of the cornea. WCM Doctors use these maps to design lenses.

|
|
Myopia is caused by light passing through the cornea into the eye in such a way that it doesn't focus properly on the retina. After the cornea is flattened with these special lenses, light focuses properly on the retina, resulting in better vision. |

COMPARED TO LASIK:
Lasik surgery needs a fully developed
eye, Corneal Molding can be done on young adults when their nearsightedness is lower
and can be adjusted for changes in growth.
Corneal Molding is reversible and non-surgical.

Why should you choose Corneal Molding for your Child or Teen ?
Corneal Molding slows down myopic progression in many children.
You don't have to worry about eyewear loss or damage during sports.
No longer have to worry about your child's vision in the classroom. They will always be able to see the board.
COMPARED TO GLASSES/CONTACTS:
The main benefit of Corneal Molding is FREEDOM.
Freedom from wearing glasses or contact lenses during waking hours. You can go swimming and play sports without the burden of contacts or glasses.
corneal molds can last you several years saving you the cost of updating your soft contacts and glasses each year.
